Overview & Reviews
To celebrate 20 years of building minivans, Dodge will offer an Anniversary Edition package for the Grand Caravan with such features as chrome wheels, two-tone leather upholstery, embroidered floor mats and an in-dash CD/DVD changer paired with a rear entertainment system. Additionally, the company has simplified the trim level structure this year, so that buyers need only choose a base SE, a midlevel EX or a top-of-the-line SXT. The Grand Caravan also gets a tire-pressure monitor, upgraded audio systems and a new integrated key/remote.
- Excellent ride and handling characteristics, good low-end pull from 3.8-liter V6, roomy cabin, comfortable seats.
- No fold-flat third-row seat, unimpressive reliability history, subpar frontal offset crash test score, low resale value.

A great Sport Van - 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan
By Larry Baran - June 30 - 2:00 amThis is the 3rd generation Dodge Caravan we have owned. (1985, 1992, and, now, 2003). Much to our kids confusion, we have kept the 1992 Caravan as our in-town vehicle. They BOTH are easy to drive. It is fun to drive, for me at 62" and my wife of 50". We both can feel comnfortable, see well, drive long trips (a periodic requirement for us) and arrive after 12 hours of driving without feeling fatigued. It is interesting that we have come from driving a VW Combi-van in the 1960s to Caravan in the 00s!

Good (North)American Value - 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan
By R. E. Moore - June 3 - 1:16 pmHave owned since new, going on 7 years and have 135,000 miles. Overall 22-23 mpg. Out of warranty after 18 months (36,000 miles). Very comfortable ride, sits 6 adults or 7 if 3 kids. Seats come out in halves, easier than older Chryslers. Paid $21,500 new. Power doors expensive ($400)repair , paid for 3 now. Mostly highway miles, keep the oil changed, been very reliable. Goes through brakes. Automatic Transmission shifts rough, all my Chrysler minivans have. Anti-lock brakes awesome, thought Id nailed someone last week, stopped quickly with no loss of control.

Devil in the Details - 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan
By JBaker in MS - June 16 - 3:06 pmWe bought this van b/c it was far cheaper than the Odyssey. It had been a great car until about a year ago. Now 5 years old, its beginning to disappoint us. Its little things: theres a rattle in both sides of the front suspension, the front windows arent working, trim is popping loose on the sides, the water pump went out and both doors have had the wiring harnesses replaced. Unfortunately, the warranty ran out long ago. The van drives/rides great. Its great on trips, but long-term reliability is questionable. Also, our mpg has never been good. Its now down to 18- unacceptable in a V6 minivan rated higher than that. Even on straight interstate we only get 21 or 22 mpgs.

Dodge Caravan Sport - 2004 Dodge Grand Caravan
By LisaGW1 - May 11 - 2:00 amIve only been driving this van for 3 months, but have had no problems at all. Its fairly comfortable, and I like the fact that the second row seats are spaced apart from each other.
